About Taklow Teg and some information about the company
The name of my Business "Taklow Teg" is taken from the Cornish Language and means" Pretty Things". As a Cornish Language Bard and interested in the culture and language of the County of Cornwall, it seemed a suitable name for my craft work.
It all started with simply pressing and drying flowers and then wondering what to do with them! I soon began making greetings cards and small gifts such as paperweights, coasters, etc., which friends often came along and asked to buy. I was then asked to set up stalls for various craft fairs, mainly local, which I did and found that there was a call for craft items.
As time went by I felt I needed to broaden my range and so followed Parchment Craft greeting cards, silk painting , glass and ceramic painting. I found this type of painting very rewarding and in demand.
A lot of my work is with flowers and foliage, whether gathered and dried, or painted, and a lot of my inspiration comes from the Cornish hedgerow. I design and draw most of my own patterns and many items are individual. I also try to promote Cornwall and all things Cornish by depicting certain aspects of this beautiful county in my designs, especially on cards, mugs and silk ties.
*At the present time I am working on some coordinating Wedding Stationery which, of course, is very individual and a challenge.
